Dear Friend,
The Temple Theatre is fortunate to be part of such a strong coalition of community, fans, performers and businesses. Because of supporters like you, The Temple remains a shining light in Historic Downtown Sanford. Your investment in The Temple is an investment in Lee County, Sanford, its beautiful downtown and our strong community. Every donation we receive helps us continue to be Lee County's number one tourist attraction, a fact of which we can all be proud. The past few seasons have been strenuous, but your determination to see The Temple succeed and stand as a cornerstone to Downtown Sanford is beginning to pay off, but the burden is still great.
According to Americans for the Arts, every dollar spent on the arts is returned to the community eight-fold. Think about that for a moment. As we enter the 2011-2012 season every dollar you donate, every ticket sold, finds its way back into our local economy 8 times over. A large percentage of our patrons come from out of town, from as close as Southern Pines to as far as Charlotte. When they come to The Temple they are exposed to all the great businesses and attractions we have to offer. By cultivating relationships with local businesses and community organizations we help elevate Sanford's bottom line. That is how great down towns are built, that is how Arts and Culture can boost the economy and that is why every dollar you donate this season will continue to help The Temple Theatre drive Sanford's Downtown economy and continue to be Lee County's number one tourist draw.
Not only is The Temple Theatre a leader in increasing the financial bottom line for both the city and local businesses, it is also a leader in increasing Sanford's cultural and social bottom line through community and educational outreach. From our Winter and Summer Youth Conservatory, local School and Community College involvement and partnering with charitable organizations we are able to be a critical hub for so many of Sanford's diverse elements.
This year proves to be very exciting. We have an outstanding line up which includes Guys and Dolls, Dial M for Murder, Sanford's newest holiday tradition of A Christmas Carol, Jason Petty and Carolyn Martin in County Legends, The Odd Couple and Little Shop of Horrors. Our Summer Youth Conservatory will take us to the fantastical world of Alice in Wonderland and our Winter Youth Conservatory will reproduce an excellent version of Twelfth Night. This is the type of quality season we are able to give Sanford and it all starts with you. Your vision, commitment and financial support to The Temple Theatre will make Sanford a bright spot in our state's economy, a destination for those who love the arts and will allow us to continue our dedication to Sanford's growth and success.
This year we invite you to commit to our 5 year investment program. Simply by filling out a pledge card or contributing with your credit/debit card by clicking on the “donate” button to the left. You will be instrumental in securing top notch shows that will bring recognition, economic success and community enrichment to Sanford.
The Temple Theatre is very grateful for your donation and will always remain true to our mission to entertain, educate and enlighten audiences from surrounding areas and across North Carolina through the art of live theatre. The forward progress of our city is worth your attention and commitment and we thanks you for all your support.
Thank you, Peggy Taphorn Producing Artistic Director
